Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-29
Memofu (“we”, “us”) is a private pet memory and health-log service. Privacy is not a feature of Memofu — it is the product. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, and locale, used to operate your account.
- Your content: the photos, videos, health records, and notes you add. Your content stays private to your care circle; there is no public feed.
- Usage data: a small set of product events (for example, “a post was created”) used only to improve the service. On this website we also use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity, which are on by default and which you can turn off at any time — see Analytics on this website. We never use advertising or cross-site trackers, and the Memofu app itself contains no third-party analytics at all.
- Support messages: when you contact us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal data.
- We never show advertising.
- We never make your content public.
- We strip photo GPS location data on your device before upload.
Analytics on this website
This section is about memofu.com only. The Memofu app contains no third-party analytics of any kind, and none of the tools below ever run on a private share page (/v/…), an invite page, or a widget-pairing page.
These tools are on by default. You can turn them off for this browser at any time using the control below, and doing so deletes our identifiers immediately.
| Tool | What it receives | Purpose | Your control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel Web Analytics (Vercel Inc., USA) | Page URL, referrer, country, device type. No cookies, no identifier. | Counting visits | Always on — it stores nothing on your device and identifies nobody |
| Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC, USA) | Page URL, referrer, country, device type, the events listed below, and a Google cookie identifier. | Understanding which pages help people | On by default — turn it off below |
| Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation, USA) | Anonymised recordings of clicks and scrolling. Text you type is masked. | Finding usability problems | On by default — turn it off below |
| Memofu (first-party) | A random identifier stored in your browser, plus the events listed below. | Our own aggregate reporting | On by default — turn it off below |
The events we record are: which pages you viewed, clicks on calls to action and store badges, clicks on links leaving this site, how far down a page you scrolled, whether an article was read through, and how quickly the page loaded and responded for you. We never record what you type, and none of it is connected to a Memofu account — this website has no sign-in.
The random identifier is generated in your browser, is never shared with anyone else, and is deleted the moment you turn analytics off. It identifies a browser, not a person, but we treat it as personal data all the same. If you are in the EU, the UK or Switzerland and would rather not be measured at all, the control below is the switch — and your browser’s own tracking protection or an ad blocker will also stop these scripts from loading.
Google Consent Mode v2 is configured so that every advertising signal — ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization — stays denied permanently. We do not advertise and do not intend to.
Analytics on this website
Analytics is on. Turning it off takes one click and applies to this browser.
Turning it off deletes our identifiers immediately and stops further measurement. A vendor script already loaded on this page finishes clearing at your next page load.
How your content is shared
Only people you invite to your circle can see your content. Share links you create are private, expiring URLs — anyone with the link can view exactly what you chose to share, until you revoke it or it expires.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time. Deleted accounts and their content are removed from our production systems within 30 days. You can export all of your data, free, at any time before (or instead of) deleting.
Where data is processed
Content and account data are stored with our hosting providers (currently Supabase and Vercel). Payment processing is handled by Apple and Google through their app stores — we never see your card details.
Your rights
Depending on your region (including GDPR and Japan’s APPI), you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your personal data. The export and deletion tools are built into the app; for anything else, contact us via the support page.
Children
Memofu is intended for users aged 17 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and note the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
